In the abandoned town of Delray, Michigan, the depressed musician Adam (Tom Hiddleston) lives in an old house surrounded by derelict buildings, along with his musical instruments and books. Adam has been a vampire for centuries, but he is tired of the world’s fate, which has been shaped by humanity’s wrong decisions. He has a confidentiality agreement with Ian (Anton Yelchin), who supplies him with rare instruments and asks no questions. Adam poses as Dr. Faust and buys bags of blood from Dr. Watson (Jeffrey Wright) at a nearby hospital. His wife and lover, Eve (Tilda Swinton), lives in Tangier, Morocco, and is also a vampire. His best friend is Christopher “Kit” Marlowe (Sir John Hurt), who supplies him with blood that he buys from a French doctor. When Eva calls Adam from Tangier, she senses that he is downcast and decides to fly to Detroit to meet him. She meets with Kit to say goodbye, and Kit tells Eva that he had a dream about his younger sister, Ava (Mia Wasikowska). Eva and Adam reunite and spend their nights making love. Out of nowhere, the wild and reckless Ava shows up at Adam’s house and turns their lives upside down.
